Before people installed them in their cars and dyno'd them, there was a ton of unfounded ricer magazine hype stating that they'd put out tons of power with little to no lag. That early reputation keeps people buying them because they don't do their research. After people installed them in their car and the dyno results were posted, cold harsh reality set in. The result- you don't get something for nothing. Yes, they'll make big power but they have big lag. Often the people that install them are left wishing they installed a more realistic, streetable turbo. Unfortunately the temptation to have a dyno queen that delivers nearly unusable peak (brag) numbers overpowers the good sense that says to install turbos that deliver a powerband you can use. Take a look at the people who had radical setups on their car. Nearly all of them ended up selling their car or deciding that they want to return the car to a setup that's actually enjoyable to drive.
